The Social and Business Return on Investment for Developments
Thursday 23 April, 8.45am - 9.45am
Location: Better Bankside Community Space, 18 Great Guildford St, London SE1 0FD
Greengage Environmental LLP will contribute to the ROI: Performance vs Value debate through examining the value of sustainability in a number of projects from both a financial and social perspective.
The event will be attended by a senior representative from prestigious Real Estate Investment Trust, British Land as well as Festus Moffat, Director at award winning John Robertson Architects, who will present at the event and take part in the subsequent informal discussion.
Financial return on investment from physical and technological sustainability initiatives is well understood, although implementation difficulties still exist. Connecting to low carbon heat networks or installing renewables technologies generally results in financial savings for developments. We examine some projects that demonstrated financial return and highlight any challenges faced along the way.
Social return on investment is considered less tangible but is becoming increasingly important with more and more development projects aiming to push the social and community agenda. How does this work in reality? What are the social indicators and corresponding benefits that a community can expect to receive? How can organisiations demonstrate a quantifiable social return that aligns with the business strategy?
Using case studies that incorporate real examples of successful social & financial return, the presentation which will be followed by an informal discussion, will demonstrate how projects can successfully incorporate measurable social indicators alongside financial requirements to support the business case for sustainability.
